A study on an organization pattern of product development team

Abstract:To shorten product development time, the organization pattern of a development team should be adaptive to products. Although enterprises increasingly use cross-functional teams to develop new products and studies have focused on within-team processes like cooperation between and integration of individuals from various disciplines, little about patterns that make teams more effective is written in the literature on teamwork. In order to capture the key factors that lead to the excellent performance of a product development team, in this paper, three representative patterns of the development team are presented. A fuzzy neural network (FNN) model is then chosen to construct a decision support system because of its fuzzy logic ability. Some typical patterns are given to train the network that is used to choose the development team organization patterns. A rule base in the system is used to save historical rules for convenience. The simulation results testify the validity of this method.
