Abstract: | Mill mixed blend of neoprene and carboxylated nitrile rubber can be vulcanized during molding at high temperatures (180°C) in the absence of any vulcanizing agent, which is supported by FTIR studies. The extent of vulcanization reaction depends not only upon the molding time but also on the blend ratio. Dynamic mechanical analyses and differential scanning calorimeter studies show that neoprene and carboxylated nitrile rubber are not miscible at the segmental level in the self-vulcanized blend. |
