Abstract: | ![]() Argues that the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ) does not measure 3 attributional dimensions (i.e., internality, globality, and stability) but 2 outcome factors and several events factors. Two published subscale correlation matrices by C. Peterson et al (see record 1983-02470-001) and by A. J. Zautra et al (see record 1986-11854-001) were factor analyzed. In addition, ASQ data from 537 high school and college students were collected. A 3rd subscale matrix and 3 item correlation matrices were derived from these data and the factor analyses. All factor matrices were compared to hypothesized matrices, and the argument was supported. There may be little cross-situational consistency in attributional style.
