Abstract: | The paper focuses on distributed interactive simulation (DIS) as an emerging technology which offers new opportunities for the Department of Defense in the design of simulation systems, the approach to training, and the improvement of the material acquisition process. Discussion of these topics is followed by an overview of selected Department of Defense programs that employ DIS. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of technology challenges that must be overcome for this technology to reach its full potential |
