Abstract: | Summary The article presents the results of an investigation into the influence of the density of starting compacts on the density of sintered specimens. Zirconium carbide powders of different specific surfaces were used as starting materials. It is shown that the influence of the density of starting compacts can be quantitatively estimated when coarse powders of low activity are employed. In the case of fine powders, whose activity stimulates the sintering process, it is virtually impossible to evaluate quantitatively the influence of the density of starting compacts on the density of sintered parts.Translated from Poroshkovaya Metallurgiya, No. 1, pp. 14–16, January, 1968. |
