Abstract:Conclusions The sintering process has been studied theoretically. It has been shown that such a relation of the change of volume with time is applicable to real sintering conditions when the general characteristic parameters of the processes are also functions of the temperature and of time.On the basis of a physical analysis of the essential features of the process a general kinetic equation of sintering has been derived. It contains new characteristic parameters: the time of induction and the relative difference of the effective surfaces at the beginning and the end of the process. The theoretical data have been cheched by comparison with experimental results from the sintering of NaF. It has been shown that the minimum sum of the squares of the error function is describing the results by the general kinetic equation amounts to 10–6.Translated from Poroshkovaya Metallurgiya, No. 9, pp. 102–110, September, 1967.The authors wish to express their thanks to B. Zhivanovich and F. Sigulinskii for experimental data on the sintering of NaF and to S. Bingulets for valuable advice and assistance in computing with these data.
