Extensional vibrations of piezoelectric plates

Summary We consider piezoelectric plates with a thickness small with respect to the lateral dimensions. The surfaces of these plates are partly coated with electrodes. Equations are derived which describe the lateral vibrations of these plates approximately. The first resonance-frequency of a circular plate as a function of the radius of the electrodes is computed and compared with measured values.
