This article describes all of the important requirements in the latest international standard on inspection of butt welds and Tee welds in pressure vessels,using phased arrays with S-san or E-san.The main content is consist of(a) the requirements of phased array instruments,probes and calibration blocks;(b) adjust methods of base linearity,test range and sensitivity;(c) setup and checking of focal laws;(d) specific examination procedures;(e) scanning setup and sound line trail for butt welds and T welds of thin,medium and heavy plates;(f) indication evaluation.The intention is to provide useful references for promoting application of standardized phased array ultrasonic inspection technologies in our country.
