Abstract: | We present an analytical model to account for amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise in long-haul systems. Our approach provides a drastic speed-up of system budgeting compared to conventional modeling based on split-step methods. We have validated the analytical model experimentally and numerically. We also are reporting on a new analytical model to account for electrical filter-induced noise penalty and show that this model agrees well with fully numerical simulations. |
