An apparatus is described for remote inspection of the state of metal in nuclear power plant equipment. The high-temperature piezoelectric transducers used in the instrument section of the apparatus are described, and their technical specifications are given. Alternative ways of using the apparatus to monitor various industrial testpieces are discussed.
