ASN. 1 TOOL OF X. 400 PROTOCOL CONFORMANCETESTING ENVIRONMENT

X. 400 protocol is one of the most maturing protocols about message handling in application layer. Since many products realizing X. 400 have emerged recently, it is mandatory to perform the conformance testing to them to verify the interworking and interoperability between them. ASN. 1 (abstract syntax notation one), as a general formal method defining the exchanging information within the Application layer, plays a great role in the X. 400 protocol realization. We on behalf the Department of Computer Science of Tsinghua University held the task of implementing a conformance testing environment for specific seven layer protocols. In this paper, we give our thorough analysis of the fundamentals and functions of ASN. I tool in the X. 400 protocol conformance testing environment, and submit a list based scheme to represent values of ASN. I called ENODE in a C language structure.
