Abstract:AM/DMDAAC cationic clay stabilizer was prepared with acrylamide (AM) and dimethyldiallyl- ammonium chloride ( DMDAAC), and the optimum reaction conditions were identified : n (AM) : n ( DM- DAAC) = 3:2, ammonium persulfate initiator usage (based on monomer mass, similarly hereinafter): 0.8%, reaction temperature: 50 ~C, total monomer usage: 20%. The swelling inhibition and salt tolerance properties of AM/DMDAAC AM/DMDAAC cationic clay stabilizer were evaluated. According to the results, AM/DMDAAC AM/DMDAAC cationic clay stabilizer is salt resistant to a certain extent and has good clay hydration and swelling resistant performance.
