Side-face radiation trapping by optical fibers |

| Abstract: | Radiation striking the side surface of an optical fiber can be trapped as result of scattering on the fiber wall. The mechanism of trapping is analyzed, a mathematical model of this phenomenon is presented, and the results of experimental investigations using poly (methyl methacrylate) fibers are reported. |
