Development and application of basic automation in hydropower plants

Basic automat ion of hydropower plant is an integrative and systemic project . It is an important stage to perform unattended on duty, or few persons on duty. Basic automation is consisted of automat icelement ( device ) and automat ic control system of auxiliary equipment, while the automatic element ( device) is the foundation. The automatic control system of auxiliary equipment provides a platform for realizing automatic control, protect ion and communications. Intelligentizat ion of basic automatic elementsdevices is the general trend of the development and requirement. It has gradually been developing into integrated systems combining calculation, control, communications and networks. Single element ( device) is to be replaced by integrated systems in the development of basic automat ion in hydropower plants.
