Flue Gas Desulfurization Technologies and Selection for Petrochemical Enterprises

This article reviews the desulfurization technologies widely used by petrochemical enterprises and discusses their upsides and downsides.The article also describes the current status of SO2 emissions and desulfurization in petrochemical enterprises and recommends some key considerations for petrochemical enterprises for selecting flue gas desulfurization technologies.These considerations include the geographic environment where the enterprise is located as well as the local requirements for SO2 emission,the size ,life expectancy and fuel mix of the furnace ,the conditions of the desulfurizing agent market and the requirements on product quality ,the level of utilization of desulfurization byproducts and the costs of operating desulfurizing units.The article also proposes recommendations for petrochemical enterprises for reducing SO2 emissions and selecting flue gas desulfurization technologies.
