A Comparative Study of Cross-cultural Differences between Chinese and Western Food Cultures

Under different cultural background, Chinese and western food cultures are formed with distinct char- acteristics in which value appeals for aesthetic comprehension and aesthetic temperament and interest are de- rived. These appeals make people uphold good eating behavior and promote its cultural connotation according to their own national tradition and way of thinking. Therefore, in the intercultural communication we should follow certain principles of communication and attend to different value appeals and cultural connotation embodied in different diet cultures.
