| Abstract: | The rapid economic development in Taiwan has resulted in serious environmental pollution and the balance of ecological systems has been destroyed. This paper attempts to review the impact upon water quality brought about by social developments in the past 30 years and its outcomes and phenomena affected by water pollution control policies and related actions. At the turn of the 21st century, a sustainable water environment is the common aspiration of our human community. Therefore, how to balance the enhancement of environmental protection with economic and sic-tech development is the path along which a sustainable Taiwan water environment must advance. |
