| Abstract: | 3,5-Dihydroxy benzonitrile,a versatile intermediate for the synthesis of bioactive compounds,was synthesized in four steps in an overall yield of 66% starting from 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid.The other reagents used included acetic anhydride,ammonia and thionyl chloride. |
