The features of the grid ecosystem and its requirements to the grid resource management system are analyzed. The classification of grid resource management systems in term of attributes is outlined. In the light of this classification, the typical grid item Globus is explained. The stages and steps of grid resource scheduling are described. The classification of grid resource scheduling is detailed from different angles. The most widely used scheduling methods are the extract method, multi-criteria method and meta-heuristic method. The contemporary studies and development of grid resource management and scheduling are prospected.
