Describes the development and evaluation of a behaviorally specific expectation scale to facilitate investigations of behavior-expectation effects in social interactions with the mentally ill. Data indicate that the 21-item true-false scale may be useful in further studies of the role of expectation in attitudes toward the behavior of persons labeled "mentally ill."
