THE SYNTHESIS OF HUMAN FACE FROM FRONT AND SIDE PICTURES

An interactive facial modeling and animation tool are introduced here. User can construct the photo realistic 3D model of the human head from the front and side photos of a specific person, generate facial expressions for the model and realize continuous and realistic transition between expressions and simple animations. The relevant techniques, including polygonal representation for surface, deformation from a general face model to a specific model, spring mesh, muscle based animation model, global texture mapping and expression extraction techniques are detailed.
