Abstract: | Analyzed the session topics of the American Psychological Association (APA) convention from the 1950s to the 1970s. Topics generally addressed scientific and professional matters, although there was a trend from almost exclusive focus on nonsocietal topics in the 1950s to a greater concern for societal problems in the 1970s. Even with this increased responsiveness to societal issues, the predominant interest of APA members is defined in scientific and professional terms.
