The applicability of mercury porosimetry to materials wetted by mercury

Abstract:The pore size distribution of porous electrodes made of lead, zinc, cadmium, silver and copper was measured by the intrusion of mercury to establish the applicability of the method to the field of storage batteries. For lead, zinc and copper reproducible results were obtained either without or with a thin protective coating to prevent mercury from wetting their surface; for cadmium and silver, only qualitative information was obtained.
