Analysis for Yangtze valley water conservancy construction during 8th 5-year plan

During 8th 5-year national economy development plan, much attention was paid by governments at all levels and whole Chinese society to the water conservancy construction,and the funds for it were also increased;which have pushed the harnessing of large rivers and streams and the construction of backbone projects,speeded up the constructional pace of the hydropower project and regional electric network,promoted the irrigation as well as rural and urban water supply development. Remarkable achievements have been attained in aspects such as the flood control, water logging control, river regulation, irrigation, hydropower generation, soil and water conservation, and engineering management. However,there exist many problens to be solved in the water conservancy construction. Based on fully summing up the experience in the water conservancy construction during 8th 5-year plan,this paper discusses the strategy of the water conservancy development of the Yangtze valley.
