The Meaning and Expression of Metaphor: The Comparison of Jencks and Venturi's Post-Modern Architecture Theories

Based on the review of Jencks and Venturi’s post-modern architecture theories, this article points out their different opinions on ＂the language and metaphor of architecture＂： Jencks pays more attention to the meaning of architecture’s metaphor while Venturi attaches more to the way of expressing metaphor. Moreover, the article also analyzes the reason why Venturi insists on declaring himself as a modernist rather than a post-modernist.
