| Abstract: | The loss of kidney function in IgA nephropathy results from matrix overproduction by mesangial cells stimulated by IgA circulating complexes (IgA-CC) deposited in the mesangial area. High IgA-CC plasma concentrations are at least partly secondary to a genetically induced overproduction of undergalactosylated IgA molecules poorly cleared by the liver. |
