From Collection to Architecture, and From Architecture to Collection: New York Cloisters Museum

New York Cloisters is a museum collecting works of art and architecture of the Middle Ages. 20 miles of forest around the museum ensures a permanent natural environment and landscape. Utilizing the collections of ar- chitectural components of the Middle Ages, Architect Charles Collens completed this museum, which captures worldwide attention, then turned it into a branch of the New York Met- ropolitan Museum of Art. It reproduces the European archi- tectural pattern of different region and different style from 12th to 14th Century. Not only preserving collection s ef- fectually but also returning collections into original archi- tectural space and situation, Cloisters Museum accomplishes a marvel of architecture history and museum history.
