| Abstract: | An approximate kinematical method for solving the shakedown problems is presented in this paper. The scheme adopted is firstly to assume a kinematically admissible plastic strain rate cycle. Then, the actual collapse load factor is estimated according to some relevant formulae of the kinematical shakedown theorem. Application of the approximate kinematical method is exemplified using a continuous two-span beam applied with cyclic load. |
