Size analysis of particles of irregular shape from their acoustic emissions

Abstract:A method developed by the authors for determining average size and for characterizing the size distribution of spherical particles from their acoustic emissions has been extended to include particles of irregular shape. The method seems to be applicable to a large variety of materials over a wide range of sizes from several cm down to approximately 50 μm. It is thought that this method should be especially useful in continuous monitoring of crushing and blending processes.
