This paper introduces a special soil -subtropical recently deposited coastal soft soil, coral fragment mixed with mucky soil. By the result of plate-load test and field direct shear test. it proves that this soil possesses the characteristics of high compressibility. high angle of friction. low bearing capacity and weak permeability. Generally its bearing capacity and deformation modulus cannot be determined by the physical parameters or by the method of elastic- plastic theoretical models.
