| Abstract: | The cationic transport number for thorium dioxide has been determined using thermal expansion measurements coupled with coulometric titration (“dilato-coulometry”). Polycrystalline ThO2 was studied in the temperature range 1000–1500° C, under oxygen partial pressures ranging from 1 to 10?12 atm. In air, tTh ～ 5 × 10?7 at 1200° C. Values for total conductivity are compared with data obtained by the Nernst-Einstein relation from the self-diffusion coefficient of Th in ThO2. |
