Humple Opinions on the Protection of Historic Buildings of the Old City of Shenyang

The old city of Shenyang was built in the Han Dynasty and has a long history of more than 2,000 years. Up to now, there has been preserved in the city many ancient buildings of important historic value, of different styles and different ages. Shenyang was officially placed in the list of national important historically-famous cities by the state. The paper describes briefly the historical course of change and development of the ancient city of Shenyang, thus clearing up some confused ideas about the conception and its scope of the historic buildnigs in Shenyang city. In view of the facts that some important historic buildings in the city are now being faced with a danger of destruction, the paper discusses the necessity and significance of the protection of historic buildings. On the basis of a wide social investigation and analysiss, ome constructive suggestions about the protection work of the historic buildings of the ancient city of Shenyang are presented as follows:Histoic buildings should be classified, according to its scale, importance and historic value, into three levels-regional protection level, absolute protection level and general protection level;Preservations and maintenance of varying degrees should be made accordingly; A list of the city's historic buildings need to be protected is offered and it is proposed that the measures should be made clear and difinite with legal protection.
