| Abstract: | An earlier theoretical approach to the hydrophobic interaction, based on statistical mechanical treatments of models for liquid water and for aqueous solutions of hydrocarbons, is summarized here. Experimental verification of the theoretical thermodynamic parameters for hydrophobic interactions, and applications of the theory to some aspects of protein structure, are presented. |
