Grasp Opportunity, Take Development and Renovation: the 27th IDF World Dairy Congress

The 27th World Dairy Congress and the World Dairy Summit of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), a non-profit international dairy industry guild, will be held in Shanghai from Oct. 20 to 23. More than 1,400 entrepreneurs, specialists and government officials from 60 countries, and representatives from international organizations including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are expected to attend the dairy congress, said Beilei Pan, who takes charge of the meeting's preparation. Ten symposiums, six forums and an exhibition will be held, said Pan, who is also chairman of the IDF China National Committee. Participants will exchange views on the subjects of milk's impact on bone metabolism of children, role of calcium in dairy products on obesity prevention, control and management of infectious diseases in dairy production and security standards. China has witnessed a fast growth in its dairy industry in the past decade. It produced 28.64 million tons of dairy products last year, more than three times the output of 1995, a year when the country first joined IDF. Currently, the per capita availability of dairy products in China is 21.7 kg.
