A HELP system for the user community

Interactive computer guidance systems are discussed. The user interface of such systems and the computer resources required are examined for a large computer centre. The design and development of a Liverpool HELP system is discussed. The Liverpool HELP system, which is written entirely in GEORGE job control language, is shown to be an efficient and inexpensive solution to the provision of an on-line enquiry service.
