Abstract: | In order to investigate the shear behavior of bolt connectors in steel-concrete composite beams, a total of twenty-four pushout specimens were tested. The influencing parameters consisted of the bolt diameter, bolt strength, the embedded slender ratio of bolt as well as compressive strength of the concrete. The failure modes, load-slip curves and load-carrying capacity were analyzed in detail. The test results show that the failure modes of bolt connectors are compression failure of the concrete around the bolt and shear failure of the bolt. When the failure mode of pushout specimens is compression failure of the concrete around the bolt, the load-carrying capacity of bolt connectors is improved with the increase of the compressive strength of concrete, the bolt diameter and the embedded slender ratio of the bolt. When the failure mode is shear failure of the bolt, the shear bearing capacity of bolt connectors is improved with the increase of the bolt strength. Based on the experimental results, a simple model was proposed for predicting the shear bearing capacity of bolt connectors in steel-concrete composite beams. The estimation of the shear bearing capacity of bolt connectors based on the proposed formula agrees well with the experimental results. |
