Abstract: | ![]() Studied 3rd and 4th graders and college undergraduates to investigate the development of the ability to use taxonomic, phonemic, and sense impression categories as dimensions. Results indicate that the more sophisticated the level of encoding needed to discriminate between 2 opposing classes of information, the older the child must be before he can accomplish the task.
