| Abstract: | The author shows that in case the position of an initial fracture is close to orthogonal relative to the maximum compression
direction, the minimum opening of the hydraulic fracture takes place at the contour of borehole. A model problem on fracture
propagation along the interface of blocks is solved, and the conditions are found when edges of fractures close.
