Application of DSP Technology in Software Defined Radio

Abstract:A new concept of software defined radio is first introduced. Based on the discussion, digital signal processing (DSP) which is one of key techniques in software defined radio is described particularly, along with the application of DSP technology in software defined radio. Several characteristics of DSP platform for software defined radio are compared. At the same time, a high- speed general digital signal processing platform is introduced in detail, which is based on software defined radio and implemented by FPGA and TMS320C6X series DSP. The hardware structure, characteristics and work flow of such platform are discussed respectively. The paper provides references for further research of DSP application in software defined radio.
