Abstract: | The principle of a passive chipless ultrawideband-enabled radio-frequency identification (UWB-RFID) and localization system is firstly introduced. A uniplanar monopole antenna with a size of only $23times 23times 0.508 {rm mm}$ is then designed. Six passive chipless tags based on the antenna structure are subsequently developed for the system application. The backscattering characteristics of the tags are theoretically and experimentally studied in both the frequency and time domain. Following that, a simple receiver structure is proposed to simultaneously identify these tags and find their ranges. Results show that the proposed tags are excellent candidates for passive chipless UWB-RFID localization system applications. |
