With the development of technique in the optical network, its survivability and QoS are more and more concerned. Based on the strategies with differentiated QoS for survivable optical network, this paper introduces the principles and importance of survivable optical network in order to explain the reason for studying strategies with differentiated QoS for survivable optical network. Moreover, the general classification diagram of traditional schemes of optical network survivability is given.
