Abstract:The technical features and frequency characteristics of IEEE8 02.11x protocol in Wireless Local Area Network(WLAN) are introduced. The radio path loss is calculated by using COST231 HATA correction transmission model. Th e space channel fading characteristics of 2.4GHz frequency in WLAN are shown in graphics. By calculation, following results are obtained: along with the increas e of transmission distance and the difference of antenna height between AP(Acces s Point) and STA(Station).The WL AN radio path loss will exceed the tolerable maximum path loss of WLAN system ra pidly, the WLAN coverage scope will be limited .The WLAN outdoor coverage will b e improved when the WLAN BTS/AP is deployed based on the path loss. Finally, a valuable WLAN outdoor coverage deployment suggestion is given that WLAN outdoor cove rage will be improved by deploying multilayer AP layout and keeping the balance of uplink path and downlink path.
