THEORETICAL STUDY OF KEY STRATUM IN GROUND CONTROL

The key stratum theory for movement of the overlying strata in the workings is proposed for the first time. The criterion for determining the key stratum is also discussed. The rules of deformation, separation and fracture of the strata affected by the key stratum behaviour are studied in detail. Bassed on the key stratum theory, a stucture model of the overlying strata is given. This theory provides a unified thinking and for study of strata displacement and strata behaviour in longwall mining.
