TECHNOLOGICAL PACKAGES FOR THE EFFECTIVE CONTROL OF SLAB CASTING

In recent years, Danieli Automation has gained considerable experience in the control of the continuous casting of slabs. A large number of projects successfully completed in cooperation with Danieli Wean United (thin slab casters) and with Danieli Davy Distington (thick slab casters), has allowed the company to develop a suite of technological solutions providing improvements in the production process and in the optimization of the casting process. These solutions are supplied in the form of technological packages, complete with hardware, software, documentation and services, and they can be both installed on new casters or retro-fitted to existing units. This paper describes the main technological packages available for continuous slab casting, and some recent projects where they have been successfully applied.
