Abstract:Aiming at quality problems such as cracks,porosity and shrinkage of the thin slab during the solidification process,the thin slab with high casting speed produced by a factory was taken as the research object,and the CAFE model combining heat transfer and solidification finite element with cellular automata was established.The numerical calculation of the whole process of solidification and heat transfer was carried out based on ProCAST platform.The growth of the thin slab shell at the end of the mold under different casting speeds and the influence of different casting speeds on the temperature field and three-dimensional solidification structure were studied.The results showed that,under different casting speeds,the thickness difference of the blank shell at different heights in the mold gradually differentiated.The closer to the lower opening of the mold,the more obvious the shell became thinner.For every increase of 0.2 m/min in the casting speed,the thickness of the blank shell at the end of the mold reduced by about 0.2 mm,and the length of the liquid cavity at the end of the solidification increased by 0.3 m.When the casting speed increased,the total number of grains on the cross section of the cast slab would decrease,and the average grain area would also show a decreasing trend.
