| Abstract: | The Rockwell and Brinell hardness of 16 metals were investigated. The effects of surface roughness on the hardness values were discussed. It was found that the surface roughness is significant in Brinell hardness testing, but has little influence on Rockwell hardness. It's mechanism was suggested. The application of this work to industrial production was also involved. |
