从有地质资料记载以来,凤太地区找矿工作是从上世纪五十年代末期开始,至今已有近六十年的历史,其中最初的二十年是断断续续、零零散散的找矿,基本上没有开发利用;后四十年是持续不断的系统找矿,开发利用也不间断进行。在后四十年中的前二十到二十五年主要是以地表找矿为主,后十到二十五年以深部找矿为主,无论是地表找矿还是深部找矿都取得了巨大的成果。深部找矿风险大、成本高,研究清楚矿区地层、构造、控矿因素及矿体特征,尤其矿体形态特征是深部找矿的关键。
