Abstract:The water conservancy cause,as the national economy's foundation facility and foundation industry, will occupy a very important position in 9th 5-year national economy and society development plan.The targets,strategic distribution and construction arrangement of the water conservancy development in the Yangtze valley would all directly influence the implementation of 9th 5-year plan for this valley,or even for the whole country.On the basis of summing up the remarkable achievements,obtained during 8th 5-year plan,of the water conservancy construction in the Yangtze valley,the deepening analysis is conducted on difficulties and problems of the water conservancy construction in the Yangtze valley.And,on the basis of specific conditions and economic development targets of the Yangtze valley,the tentative ideas about the target and task of the water conservancy development by 2000,and proposals about development of such aspects as the large/medium scale comprehensive utilization reservoir,flood control, water logging control, irrigation,large/medium scale water transfer project and water supply to city and town,hydropower generation and electric network,soil and water conservation, water resources protection, combination of water conservancy project and oncomelania elimination,and water conservancy project management are all put forward.
