Abstract:This paper presents a numerical model for solving problems of water and contaminants transportation and transformation in variably saturated porous media. This model used the finite-difference approximation to the advection-dispersion equation. The spatial derivatives in the flow equation are approximated by central difference written about grid-block boundaries and time derivatives are approximated by a fully implicit backward scheme. The numerical modeling of water and contaminants mixing wbs used to simulate water and contaminant movements in unsaturated soils. Results from numerical simulations were compared with the data from tests. The predicted results were in good agreement with the experimental data.
