Man-made wetland wastewater treatment and its application to small/medium cities of China

The treatment system of man-made wetland wastewater treatment is highly efficient in the removal of pollutants. Its mechanism is based on the cooperation of the substrate, vegetation and microorganisms, which inter-act through a series of complex physical, chemical and biological reaction to purify the wastewater. Compared with the traditional wastewater treatment process, the man-made wetland has some remarkable advantages, such as low construction and running cost and simple operation and maintenance. The research development of man-made wet-land and its application to the small/medium cities in China are introduced. Its existing problems and solutions are analyzed, and its future developing trends are predicted.
